Kreidezeit alum priming salt, 3 kg

Product information "Kreidezeit alum priming salt, 3 kg"

Alum priming salt for mixing in water acts as a barrier primer against penetrating discolouration and stains from old substrates. This includes, for example, water marks, discolouration from paste residues, etc.

Alum, also known as potassium sulphate, is a salt that is easily soluble in warm water. It is used, among other things, as a haemostatic agent in shaving sticks, as a deodorant crystal or as a primer in distemper painting.
The blocking effect occurs as a result of reaction processes with lime that has not yet set, low solubility in cold water and the closing of plaster capillaries. It should be noted that the faster the coating dries, the better the chances of success. As a rule, the salt cannot be used against nicotine discolouration and hardly develops its blocking properties on old plaster.
It is advisable to treat lime plasters and lime paints with alum as soon as they have dried, as this improves the blocking effect.
It is not recommended to apply a thick layer of plaster over the primed surfaces, as the drying time may be too long and the moisture could dissolve the alum and the embedded colourants again.
In contrast to comparable products, the advantage of alum is that it only has a minor effect on the vapour absorption of the surface.
The success of the application cannot be guaranteed. However, the likelihood of success is so high that it is worth a try and depends directly on professional application. Further information can be found in the product information and in the safety data sheet.

Full declaration
100 % potassium aluminium sulphate x 12 H2O

Mixing the primer
Dissolve the priming salt in warm water while stirring (duration: approx. 5 min.). The warmer the water, the more salt dissolves. A sediment of salt crystals is normal and indicates that the solution is saturated. Do not process the sediment.

Water requirement:
Dissolve approx. 100 g alum priming salt in 1 litre of water.

Substrate requirements
The substrate must be completely dry and absorbent!

Application
Allow new lime plaster or lime paint to dry out completely.
Apply alum solution until the substrate is saturated (brush or spray, do not roll!). Processing temperature at least 8°C.
Allow to dry completely.
Sweep off excess alum (salt crystals).
Paint over with Kreidezeit marble lime paint, lime adhesive plaster, lime smoothing paint or another suitable Kreidezeit wall paint. Ensure rapid drying.

Drying time
Dry and recoatable after 24 hours at the earliest, depending on room climate conditions

Suitable tools
Suitable tools are good facade / ceiling brushes. Do not spray or roll.

Cleaning the tools
Immediately after work with water.
