Kreidezeit Shellac Isolating Primer is a primer that hardens and is used to block penetrating water, rust, soot or nicotine stains on all absorbent wall and ceiling surfaces such as plaster, wallpaper, wood and wood-based materials.
Shellac is a natural resin obtained from the secretion of female scale insects, which release it onto the branches to protect their offspring. This secretion is then harvested twice a year from the bushes, which are mainly found in the East Indies and Thailand, to produce different qualities. This so-called stick varnish then contains 60 - 80% pure shellac. This results in numerous applications in the pharmaceutical industry (dragee glazes), in insulating paints, wood polishes, finishes, chewing gums, inks and much more.
Kreidezeit Shellac Insulating Primer can be painted over with Kreidezeit wall paints if required, but is unusable in combination with lime-containing plasters and should also not be used against penetrating moisture and on damp substrates.

Processing
Remove dirt from the substrate as far as possible (brush off, wash off). Stir the product thoroughly before use and apply thinly and evenly to the dry substrate with a brush or roller. One coat is usually sufficient to block weak stains, for heavy stains apply 2-3 coats with intermediate drying and without intermediate sanding.
Can be recoated with KREIDEZEIT wall paints after approx. 24 hours. For subsequent coats of white wall paint, the insulating primer can be applied selectively. For subsequent coats of coloured wall paint or wall glazes, the insulating primer must be applied over the entire surface, otherwise coloured marks may appear.
If too thick an application has resulted in shiny spots, the dried Shellac Insulating Primer must be sanded to a matt finish before painting over with wall paints. The product can be diluted with KREIDEZEIT Alcohol up to 10 % vol.
Drying time
Dust-dry after approx. 30 minutes. Dry and recoatable after approx. 12 hours at 20 °C.
Cleaning the tools
Immediately after use with alcohol, then wash with Marseille Soap, Corfu Soap or Olive Care Soap and water.
