Clay adhesive and reinforcing mortar for reinforcing layers on clay boards as well as wood fibre finishing and interior insulation boards. Clay adhesive and reinforcing mortar consists of clay and cellulose. This guarantees optimum workability, even with thin coats. With a compressive strength of 3.9 MPa, which is new for clay mortar, and an adhesive strength of 0.85 MPa, clay bonding and reinforcing mortar guarantees the strength of the entire construction. It is the basis for fine Claytec clay finishing plasters and YOSIMA. With good preparatory work, it can also be simply painted with the Clayfix clay coating system.
How to use
Adhesive and bonding mortar as a dry, fine-grained ready-mix for bonding lightweight building and interior insulation boards to various substrates, as a reinforcing mortar on clay building boards, clay-hemp boards, wood fibre insulation and wood fibre finishing boards and mineral foam boards.
Composition
Sand up to 1.0 mm, clay and loam, talc, perlite, plant fibres and cellulose.
Delivery form, yield
25 kg bags (makes 17 litres of mortar for 5 m2), 48 bags/pal.
Storage
Can be stored in a cool, dry place indefinitely.
Mortar preparation
The 25 kg dry mix is gradually stirred into 8-9 litres of clean water using a drill (≥ 800 watts) or mixer and stirring paddle (Ø 125 mm). The amount of water added is slightly less for bonding mortar. Working consistency paste-like according to the desired application with a notched trowel or spatula.
Work well again after 30 minutes resting time. The mortar is now ready to use.
Plaster base
The substrate must be stable, frost-free, dry, clean, free of salt, sufficiently rough and absorbent. Levelling coats of clay plaster mortar must be completely dry.
The surface must be as level as necessary for the bonding described below. Small unevenness (small individual areas up to 5 cm in diameter and 3 mm deep) can be levelled with the adhesive. Larger imperfections must be filled with a suitable mortar and left to dry.
Application
The adhesive is applied to the back of the panels to be bonded using a notched trowel or spatula (8-10 mm notches). A thin layer of adhesive should be applied to the entire surface, including the grooves. The first board is applied immediately and pressed firmly onto the substrate; contact must be ensured over the entire surface.
Uneven masonry and plaster surfaces are slightly pre-wetted and roughly levelled. The back-coated boards (see above) are pressed in wet-on-wet.
Boards can be additionally mechanically fixed as required, e.g. on sloping ceilings and roofs, see corresponding board product sheets or worksheets.
As a bonding filler for thick-layer plasters on insulation boards (e.g. for wall surface heating) and similar applications, the slightly stiffer mortar is applied in the same way using a notched trowel or spatula.
For reinforcement layers, the 3 mm thick mortar is applied. It can also be sprayed on with a plastering machine; resting times are not necessary for this application. Reinforcement mesh is worked into the surface of the layer while it is still wet.
Hardening
The curing time is 24-72 hours, depending on the drying possibilities and absorbency of the substrate. With additional mechanical panel fixing and subsequent thin-layer coating, work can continue immediately.
Work samples
Adhesion to the substrate must always be checked with the respective board to be fixed using a sufficiently large working sample. Complaints not resulting from mixing errors at the factory are excluded.
