Product information "Kreidezeit wood stain for indoors and outdoors, colourless"
Kreidezeit wood stain offers the possibility of protecting exterior and interior surfaces from UV radiation, greying and weather conditions with little effort. It is a diffusible and biocide-free protective coating that can be used on a variety of wooden surfaces. These can be, for example, windows, doors, wooden facades, timber framing, play equipment, carports, etc. The advantage of Kreidezeit wood stain over other commercially available products of this type is that it does not flake, crack or burst, but gradually weathers over time. The effort involved in renewing it remains comparatively low thanks to simple cleaning and repainting.
In exterior areas, lightfast pigments must be added to the wood stain to aesthetically emphasise the natural wood grain. In contrast, the wood stain can be applied colourless indoors.
Kreidezeit wood stain is unsuitable for floors, rough sawn wood, old synthetic resin-based coats and for exterior use on horizontal surfaces.

Full declaration
Linseed oil, wood oil stand oil, linseed oil stand oil, balsamic turpentine oil, colophony glycerol ester, manganese and calcium drier
Substrate preparation / basic sanding
Remove resin pockets and old synthetic resin-based coats. For exterior use: soak absorbent cut edges and end grain areas with KREIDEZEIT resin oil and allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
Sand new and weathered wood (grit P 80 - 100), round edges. Do not sand any finer as the wood would otherwise be compacted and could not absorb enough oil. It is better to "open up" new, smooth, planed or finely pre-sanded wood by sanding. Remove dust thoroughly after sanding.
Primer
Do not prime new and normally absorbent wood. Only prime highly absorbent or weathered wood with KREIDEZEIT Priming Oil.
Application
Shake the product briefly before use. On untreated wood, apply the wood stain at least twice with intermediate drying. Intermediate sanding may be necessary before the second application.
Stir containers of different batch numbers together before use. The product must not be poured onto surfaces!
Clean and remove dust from untreated surfaces. KREIDEZEIT Wood Lazure is applied undiluted.
Please note: Exterior wood should be fitted with stainless metal screws and fittings, otherwise dark discolouration may occur when overcoating with oil.
Processing and drying temperature at least 10 °C for at least 48 hours.
1. first coat
Exterior areas Apply Pigmented Wood Stain evenly with a brush or brush pad. Avoid or spread any excess. If necessary, use a brush to smooth out any run-on glaze from corners. Stir pigmented wood stain before and occasionally during application.
Interior Application as for exterior, pigmented or colourless. Alternatively, and if a glossy appearance is not desired, wipe the entire treated surface with a dry, lint-free cloth 10-20 minutes after application until any unabsorbed wood stain has been completely removed and the surface has a uniform satin matt appearance.
2. intermediate sanding (optional)
Intermediate sanding is only necessary if the surface has dried rough after the first coat, e.g. due to raised wood fibres. Intermediate sanding with sanding fleece in the direction of the fibres.
Remove dust thoroughly after sanding.
3. final coat(s)
Repeat the finish as for the first coat.
Particularly in exterior areas, it is important that the surfaces are well saturated after finishing and have a uniformly silky, glossy appearance. This may require further coats of wood stain.
Drying time
Dry and recoatable after approx. 24 hours at 20 °C and 60 % relative humidity, at least 48 hours on substrates containing tannin (oak, etc.).
High humidity, cold and substrates containing tannins significantly extend the drying time. Fully cured after approx. 4 weeks.
Suitable tools
Paint brushes and brush pads. Do not spray or roll the product.
Cleaning the tools
Wash immediately after use with balsamic turpentine oil and then with Olive Care Soap or Corfu Soap.
In interior areas, the wood stain can be applied colourless or pigmented.
The following minimum pigment contents must be observed for exterior use:
min. 15 %: (150 g/l) gold ochre, yellow ochre, red ochre, orange ochre, sienna red, fawn umber, reddish umber, reddish brown umber, dark greenish umber, dark umber, green umber
min. 10 %: (100 g/l) spinel yellow, orange, green, turquoise, blue, mint, sun yellow, oxide orange
min. 8 %: (80 g/l) Iron oxide black
Ultramarine blue and violet are unsuitable for exterior use. We do not recommend glazing tints with titanium white for exterior use due to insufficient UV protection.
To tint, first mix the pigments with a little glaze to form a lump-free paste and only then stir into the colourless glaze. The pigments can be mixed together as desired. Instructions.
Alternatively, the wood stain can be tinted in any ratio with Stand Oil Colour - semi-fat, add at least 30 % by volume for exterior use.
