The Kreidezeit silvering glaze is a silver-grey glazing coating. It is free from biocides, weatherproof and elastic. It is particularly suitable for rough-sawn, brushed wood surfaces in outdoor areas.
Areas of application include wood panelling, beams, fences, play equipment, carports and much more. The glaze is also ideal for wooden decks.
The special thing about Kreidezeit Silvering Glaze is that it makes wooden surfaces look more weathered or like aged, silvered softwoods. It gradually weathers off on the surface and enables an almost seamless transition to the natural patina of the softwoods.
Also suitable for decorative purposes indoors.
Unsuitable for dimensionally stable wood, e.g. windows, doors.
Dilution
The product is used undiluted, but can be diluted with balsamic turpentine oil as required.
Tinting
Silvering glaze can be mixed with all coloured KREIDEZEIT wood stains and stand oil paints for additional colour shades. Do not tint with pigments.

Substrate requirements
The substrate must be untreated, dust-free, clean, dry, grease-free, chemically neutral and absorbent. Processing temperature at least 10°C. Wood moisture content < 15%. Do not apply to damp wood!
Substrate preparation / basic sanding
Remove resin pockets and old synthetic resin-based coats.
Sand smooth or planed wood (P60 - 80) or brush.
Do not sand any finer as this will compact the wood and impair the function of the glaze. Remove dust thoroughly after sanding.
Priming
The surfaces must not be primed before applying the stain
Application
Stir the product thoroughly before and occasionally during application. If the glaze has run together, brush it out of the corners with a brush. Stir containers of different batch numbers together before use. The product must not be poured onto surfaces!
Clean and remove dust from untreated surfaces.
KREIDEZEIT Silvering Glaze is applied undiluted.
Processing and drying temperature at least 10 °C for at least 48 hours.
Exterior
KREIDEZEIT Silvering Glaze is only applied once evenly in the direction of the wood.
Two coats (with intermediate drying) are possible, but will produce a gloss.
Indoors and wooden decks/patio boards:
Basic sanding required, grain size P80-100. Apply KREIDEZEIT Silvering Glaze evenly in the direction of the wood. 10-20 minutes after application, wipe the entire treated surface with a dry, lint-free cloth until any glaze that has not been absorbed has been removed and the surface has an even, silky matt appearance.
Caution with grooved/grooved boards: Use a dry brush to thoroughly wipe any oil that has not been absorbed out of the grooves, otherwise there is a risk of stickiness.
Drying time
Dry and recoatable at 20 °C and 60 % relative humidity after approx. 24 hours, on substrates containing tannin (oak, etc.) at least 48 hours.
High humidity, cold and substrates containing tannins significantly extend the drying time.
Fully cured after approx. 4 weeks.
Suitable tools
Paintbrush. Do not spray or roll the product.
Cleaning the tools
Immediately after use, wash with balsamic turpentine oil and then with olive care soap or Corfu soap.
