Product information "Kreidezeit casein primer"
The Kreidezeit casein primer has a wide range of applications. This colourless, transparent primer can be used for subsequent coats and Kreidezeit lime paints, plasters and casein paints indoors.
The great advantage of this primer is that it has no reducing effect on the vapour absorption of plasters (sD value < 0.01 m), making it ideal for clay and lime plasters.
The product reduces unwanted highly absorbent substrates and equalises different absorbencies of the substrate.
Areas of application
Suitable for use on all untreated and absorbent substrates such as clay, lime, lime-cement and gypsum plasters, gypsum plasterboard and gypsum fibreboards, stone and concrete.
Recommended for priming absorbent old coatings before renovation: e.g. KREIDEZEIT casein paints, clay paints, limewash paints and emulsion paints.
Unsuitable for all smooth, non-absorbent surfaces and permanently damp substrates. For transparent consolidation of plasters, especially clay plasters indoors; it is necessary to create test areas here.

Mixing the casein primer
A 10 litre bucket and a mixer (drill + whisk) are best suited for mixing the casein primer. Add the contents of the bag of casein primer (250 g) to 3 litres of clean cold water, stirring constantly. Ensure that all lumps are stirred in. After a swelling time of approx. 30 minutes, stir again vigorously and dilute with 5 litres of water.
Application
Apply the casein primer evenly and generously. Only apply as much liquid as can be absorbed by the substrate. Always remove any excess (wet, shiny areas) with a cloth before drying. Application temperature at least 8°C. The mixed primer must be applied on the same day. Do not use primer that smells bad or foul under any circumstances: Risk of long-lasting odour problems even after drying!
Drying time in a normal climate
Dry after approx. 8 hours at 20°C and can be recoated with coatings or plasters based on lime putty or casein.
Suitable tools
